Maybach Family Foundation At Cannes Film Festival, To Announce Global Mentoring Program; Sponsor Lunch Honoring Quincy Jones, & Host Party with Va
CANNES, FRANCE (PRWEB) May 11, 2007 -- The Maybach Family Foundation (www.maybach.org) has teamed with Quincy Jones to promote mentoring leadership worldwide at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The Maybach Family Foundation will introduce to Cannes its Excellence in Mentoring Leadership program, which provides exceptionally talented young adults from disadvantaged circumstances the opportunity to mentor with distinguished global leaders, in order to make a difference in their lives and in the world.
Quincy Jones commented, "Having spent much of my life teaching and coaching others, and watching them blossom into remarkable contributors to society, I am thrilled to join the Maybach Family Foundation in Cannes to support them in taking the mentoring leadership concept to a global level."
Quincy Jones, who in January was named as the first-ever "Mentor of the Year" by Harvard School of Public Health, will be honored at a private luncheon hosted by the Maybach Family Foundation.
The music legend has mentored a wide range of people, from Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith, to former gang members in South Central Los Angeles. Most recently, Jones and the Harvard School of Public Health have developed Project Q, which aims to improve the health and well-being of children around the world.
The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m., at the villa of Enrico Navarra.
Also at Cannes, on Saturday, May 19, the Foundation will sponsor a private poolside party with Variety and AMC, at 6:00 p.m. at the Majestic Hotel.
Ulrich "Uli" Schmid-Maybach, founder of the Maybach Family Foundation, was inspired to conceptualize his mentoring mandate by his great-grandfather. Dr. Wilhelm Maybach grew up at an orphanage where he met Gottlieb Daimler, who mentored him to become the constructor of the first Mercedes automobile, later being hailed as "the king of engineers." Wilhelm's son, Dr. Karl Maybach then started Maybach Motorenbau Company, which produced the most luxurious cars in Europe in the 1920s and 1930s. The Foundation builds on a legacy of engineering, invention and design that established the roots of the automotive industry.
Klaus Nesser, CEO of Maybach Brand, DaimlerChrysler remarked, "We are proud to support the Maybach Family Foundation, as the primary partner in their efforts to provide creative solutions to the world's problems through a global mentoring program of aspiring young leaders. The Foundation's approach to social responsibility coincides with our commitment to support excellence and is therefore firmly grounded in the very core of our brand."
Schmid-Maybach remarked, "The Maybach Family Foundation is extremely honored to work with such venerable forces as Quincy Jones, Variety and AMC. We are looking forward to the Cannes Film Festival as a place to identify several outstanding potential mentors for our protégés in various fields."

Ease Your Family Concerns About Senior Car Insurance
No one looks forward to the day they need to tell a parent, or both parents, that it is probably time to stop driving. Even if their driving skills have become dull and dangerous, no one wants to tell an older person they should no longer drive, or that their driving abilities have reached a point that they are possibly putting themselves, and others, at risk when driving. No one wants to have to take that freedom away from them.
